I have long had difficulty seeing another person or an animal suffer. I feel compelled to try to ease the suffering, almost as if I could feel the pain myself.
Earlier in life I was teased for being “too sensitive” and I thought it was a flaw. I learned, later on, that it is a gift and that being an empathic person was a strength not a weakness.
I began working in health care 43 years ago, primarily in geriatrics. I found I was happy bringing comfort to people even in small ways. I worked in hospice care for 16 years and loved it. I left to care for my Mother during the pandemic and still held an interest in Body/Mind/Spirit healing. I believe it makes sense to view any person with disease holistically.
I have been practicing Reiki since 2000 and became a Reiki Master in 2008. I saw the results when I incorporated Reiki into my work with patients over the years. I learned that healing for most people requires a multi-faceted approach – which is a continuation of conventional and complimentary methods.
Chronic stress and trauma are generally the main conduit to disease in the body/mind. As the body tries to fight the stress, it can’t focus as well on its natural ability to heal itself creating blockages of denser energy which eventually break down the body.
